Footballer David Beckham helped promote Vietnamese auto startup VinFast at the Paris show for the official unveiling of the LUX A2.0 sedan and SUV models.
VinFast is a subsidiary of Vingroup, Vietnam's biggest private enterprise, with interests in several market sectors including retail, construction, real estate and education.
It is working with European design, engineering and production technology partners to create cars that meet international standards and customer expectations in terms of design, quality, dynamics, premium in-car features and the ownership experience.
Deliveries of the first cars will commence in Vietnam from September 2019.
VinFast is developing a wide range of other vehicles, including electric cars, city cars, buses and scooters. The company also plans exports in coming years.
VinFast vehicles will be manufactured at a 335-hectare plant complex in Cat Hai, Hai Phong, northern Vietnam.
